We are over the moon with delight to be able to offer this fair trade, women-produced coffee from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mapendo is from the Muungano Cooperative in the Kalehe territory in South Kivu. The volcanic soil, mountains, and temperate climate in South Kivu provides the ideal environment for Arabica coffee. Mapendo is Swahili for “Love” and you can taste it in every cup!

Many of the women that produced Mapendo are widows as a result of the conflicts that have destabilized parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo. There has been intermittent conflict in Congo for the past two decades. The road to a stable country and economy will be long, and by purchasing this fair trade coffee you play a role in a brighter future for the Congolese people.

This complex brew is bright and crisp, and at the same time, soft and smooth. It has a slightly spiced aroma and a tart, fruity taste. We brought it to a medium roast to bring out its subtle sweetness and tea-like body. We think you’ll love the way this coffee tickles the back of your palette - it’s a great way to wake up the senses at the start of your day.  Freshly roasted. Packaged to order. Get it while it lasts!

Congo is velvety soft with a crisp finish. This female-farmed, fairly traded coffee is a taste of peace and sustainability.
